Make A Difference By Joining The Rebuilding Efforts – #SaveKERALA #StandForKERALA
Monsoon – A season that is eagerly awaited by people to get relief from the scorching heat of the sun has turned murderous and is creating a havoc in the Indian state of Kerala. Kerala’s most savage monsoon has brought the state to a standstill. It is facing the state’s worst flooding in a century.
Receiving 37.5% excess rainfall in just two and a half months since May-end, the death toll in the flood-hit Kerala has jumped to 324 as on August 18, 2018. The death toll from 10 days of floods in the state has nearly trebled in the last 24 hours. More than 1.5 lakh people are living in relief camps across the state and a red alert was sounded in all 14 Kerala districts. Pounded by rain, inundated by flood waters and struck by multiple landslides, Idukki district is the worst hit.
Houses have been completely waterlogged and destroyed, many have become homeless and taken refuge in relief camps. Many people have even been marooned in their own houses, without food, water, electricity and other basic supplies. Rail, road and air services paralyzed as the state reeled under the worst natural disaster in its history.
A massive rescue operation is being conducted by all the three wings of the armed forces to save the lives of the people, but as a human, it’s our responsibility to help build the lives of flood-affected people of Kerala.
‘An act of kindness lasts long. It gives you a feeling of satisfaction and fulfillment’
An appeal has been put forward by Kerala Government for financial donations and essential items for thousands of displaced people, living in relief camps around the state.
‘Giving is not just about making a donation, it’s about making a difference’
